In an effort to get the most out of the sale of our house, we are starting some remodeling projects. Replacing the flooring, painting, fixing a few issues. The first step was to get a storage unit so we could store all the non essentials, bins that are already packed, stuff we don’t use regularly. Items we aren’t going to use before the move.
We’ve already picked out the flooring and by doing the work ourselves, we’ll be able to save a lot of money. And we are going to be doing the flooring/paint room by room. It’s less traumatic for the animals and easier on us.
Something we may not have considered is how the simple act of packing a few boxes would have on our latest rescue. Our sweet beagle was so sad this morning he was hiding in our son’s shower and wouldn’t come out. Makes me think that his last owners packed up the house and dropped him off at the Humane Society and he’s afraid that’s going to happen again. I wish we could assure him that he’s coming with us. We’ll just have to pay some extra attention to him. He’s going to love the new house. Wherever and whatever it’s going to be. He’s staying with us and that’s the final answer. So for now, I put his doggy bed in there with him so he won’t be cold. I hate that I had to go to work, I asked the kiddo to play with him today.
We’ve put a timeline together and will be playing musical rooms as we get things completed. Trying to stay upbeat about this whole process. I remember being able to pack everything I owned into a pickup truck and moving in a day. This is going to be a long process. We have a lot of stuff (which we are going through as we pack and whittling things out) to move and this is going to be a while.
But it’s a good first step.
